THE
WHAT

The Creative Girl Project (TCGP) is a gender and culturally specific leadership program designed to nurture and provide Black and Brown girls with an equitable opportunity to foster their creativity, maximize their cognitive potential, and develop critical thinking skills - leading them to excel in life and the modern workplace, where systemic creativity is universal.

THE
WHY

Research shows that there is a lack of gender and culturally specific programs that are geared to the nurturing and development of
creative girls.

Additionally, Black and Brown creatives are underrepresented in mainstream creative industries.

THE
WHO

TCGP is designed to support Black and Brown girls who identify as or have been labeled as creative and who represent all income levels (with a special focus on communities impacted by violence and poverty).

THE
HOW

TCGP will offer seasonal cohorts made up of intimately-sized neighborhood clusters facilitated by experienced practitioners and established creatives.

Creatives will participate in experiential learning/project development, art workshops, age-appropriate life skills, have the opportunity to be matched with mentors, and more.

TRUE STORY

“Creativity will be the third-most important skill for employees by 2020, behind complex problem-solving and critical thinking,”
(Gray, 2016)

THE
IMPACT

CREATIVES

After participating in TCGP's communities of support and guidance, our creatives will be able to define their purpose, attune with social impact values, and readily apply creative and critical thinking skills in their every day lives.

FAMILIES

Our creatives' families will have a greater understanding of how their creative thinks as well as resources and direction in supporting and engaging their creativity.

COMMUNITIES

The communites of our creatives will have stronger talent pools, the potential for increased economic power and leadership, and an increase in local innovation and problem-solving.

MENTORS

Practitioners will expand their  networks with like-minded creatives, guide creative girls on a sustainable path for their futures, and they will simply be able to 'give back' -  supporting young creatives who were once in their shoes.

TRUE STORY

“73% of roles in fields most aligned with creative thought, are occupied by men not women, and even fewer are women of color.” (Martinez and Christnacht, 2021)

When asked "Why 'The Creative Girl Project?' founder and visionary Concitta Cavin simply responded, "It's the very thing I needed when I was a child. I'm creating this for the younger me and all the young Concittas to come."

TRUE STORY

(THE LAST ONE ...WE PROMISE!)

FOUNDER AND
CHIEF
CREATIVE GIRL

Concitta Cavin, founder of The Creative Girl Project, specializes in bringing to life the stories and brands of her clients through design, marketing, and curated programs and events.

A creative from the start, Concitta fashioned pillows out of sewing scraps and socks, transformed milk crates into dollhouses, and often found herself organizing her friends into girl clubs for the simple purpose of brainstorming fun ideas.

From Girl Scouts and summer camps to entrepreneurship programs and internships, Concitta participated in numerous extracurricular activities but never found that perfect 'fit' that allowed her to freely express herself, the space where her success could be rooted in her ability to thrive 'outside the box'. Fast forward 30 years, a college degree, corporate experience, and a non-profit stint later, and Concitta has found solace and success in embracing and fostering her own creativity and helping others - most importantly girls and women - do the same.

Concitta earned a Bachelor of Arts from Lewis University, Romeoville, IL and a Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Illinois, Chicago. Concitta has an extensive background in recruiting, training, business development, program management, and ultimately, marketing and branding. Concitta previously served as the Creative Director of both the Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League and the Young Women's Professional League; Marketing Manager of the National Association of Women Lawyers; and creator and leader of The PJ Project - an international marketing and promotional team for New Orleans native and Maroon 5 Keyboardist, PJ Morton.

Concitta was a recipient of the '40 Under 40' award for the Young Women's Professional League and was also honored for her branding and marketing contributions to Boxville - a 'commerce in the community' initiative in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood in Chicago.
